Say what you want about Mer & Cat, but they sure know how to while away those summer days. Which was also one of my alternate captions for this, but I decided to go with the short & simple; never use 19 words when 3 will suffice, as Ford Maddox Ford might’ve said, if he’d been a cartoonist.

I think I’m starting to get the hang of MyPaint.

This might have been stolen outright from Ballard Street, but I couldn’t find the original if there is one, so I’m claiming it as my own idea. I love the idea of Mer and Cat filling their days with silly little games like “Blindfold Tuesdays”. It is a very Van Amerongen idea, which is, I suppose, why I like Ballard Street so much.

I wish I remembered how to draw Mer and Cat. I did this in MyPaint, which is pretty darn good despite the name. I just have to get better at using it.

I seem to have forgotten how to draw Cat, but I tried to muddle through. And after a few aborted attempts had to resort to Cinema 4D to make the map. There’s an irony in there, but I can’t quite tease it out.

Oh, and VCM is not Back for Realz™ this time, either. I have a few ideas, but don’t expect a deluge of new comics.

Déjà vu. I don’t think I’d do this strip today, but if I did, here’s how I’d do it.

By the way, “Wii” doesn’t sound that weird now, does it? Funny how that works.

The perils of online shopping. Of course, I’ve never actually accidentally ordered a mystical portal, but I have had packages lost in transit. Which is practically the same thing.

Always helpful, Mr. Grey. As a balance to the one-panel strips lately, here’s a multi-panel one. I’m always wary of doing this many panels because I tend to run into composition problems, but I think this one’s worked out OK.

Having read a bit of fantasy in my time, I realise “A’lk’ks’p'f’al’lk’a” probably isn’t even in the top five most ridiculously apostrophed fantasy names of all time, but I tried.

Inspired by several hours of playing NBA 2K9. Basketball’s got way too complicated rules for something that seems like it should be very simple, but having seen this scene, I’ll admit there’s a case for the goal-tending rule.

I like these one panel strips. It’s kind of the concentrated essence of the gag strip form. Plus I don’t have to draw as much.
